Patrick had some time (and a piano) over the Christmas period and wanted to commit this to recorded memory before he forgot all about it.

February Update

29 Feb

On this auspicious 29th of february I felt compelled to put something up on the blog as it feels like about 4 years since the last post! We’re busying ourselves with recording new material at the moment. I promise you’ll hear a new track in the next couple of weeks, watch this space!

In the meantime, you can check out a brand new tracks from one of our little known favourite bands which I stumbled across today. At this rate we’ll see a new album at some point in the next 10 years.

2011

29 Dec

Each year bands look ahead with wide eyes and great expectations; and we feel lucky to say that 2011 really surpassed ours in so many ways. We’ve released two EP’s, both to a great reception, and we have a whole bunch of exciting new song we want to get recorded and out to everyone (although we’re not saying when quite yet…). The summer saw us play Apple Cart Festival with the magnificent Sunday Girl. And more recently, an exciting charity project you will have heard about in the last month or so. We bring this year to a close with a little reflection and review.

January was spent dusting off our festive hangovers and polishing up new songs for what would be the release of the ‘Silvers EP’. The launch took place at our favourite local venue The Windmill, on the 12th of the month. The evening was a great success and we hope all those that came way back when, had as much fun as we did. Brixton Beats did a kind review of the night, read it here.

We could not have wished for a better start to the year, resulting press from the night included a write up by our local rag ‘Lambeth Life’. Things started to pick up nicely and we were able to put out a few b-sides such as an acoustic version of ‘Lowlands’, ‘Feed the Wolves’ and ‘All at Once’.

April saw the band take a step up from local media coverage to reviews from sites such as RoomThirteen (read the review here) and enjoy a fantastic remix of our first EP stalwart and live favourite ‘A Pattern’. To build upon this gathering momentum, we went back into the studio again to record live with many, many cameras! The result was a triptych of live videos featuring ‘A Pattern’ and newly written ‘Staten’ and ‘The Heartland’ (both of which made it on to December’s Parades EP).

We spent much of the summer writing and recording new material intersected with the odd Festival gig. Most notable of which would be our appearance at Apple Cart Festival, invited by the beautiful Jade Williams AKA Sunday Girl and our Headlining slot at Rob’s Fest in St. Albans.

Here are a couple of snaps of Pat, Brad and Al at Apple Cart with Sunday Girl:

The material we were then working on formed the newly released Parades EP. Below is an insightful look at the hard work, ingenuity and fun had whilst recording Parades. Hope you enjoy:

Already this Winter we have had gigs at The Enterprise in Camden, Camden Rock, and Cargo, Shoreditch. We would like to thank anybody that came down to any shows we’ve done this year, and look forward to seeing you in 2012. Have a fantastic New Years celebration and see you all on the other side.

In the meantime, have a listen to our latest work, the Parades EP:

Much loves and hugs,

This Christmas

The last month has been a wonderfully busy period for us – aside from releasing and promoting our new EP, we have been asked to write a Christmas song!

Working with the creative agency STEEL and GREGGS the bakers we are releasing a song to benefit the Help for Heroes charity. It’s been great fun and we’ve met loads of amazing and talented people working towards our common goal.

We were lucky enough to visit Britania Row Studios last weekend for the recording sessions; thanks to them for helping us out and contributing to a great cause! Many cheers to Davide and Charlie, our two amazing engineers as well.

We’ve had to put together our own little choir for recording as well. Major thanks to all our friends who took part!

We’ll keep everyone updated as we head towards the release. You can follow our progress on Festive Jake’s blog here.

Parades EP Launch – Brixton Village 25/11/11

30 Nov

On Friday 25th of November, we showcased our new release the ‘Parades EP’ outside the Agile Rabbit in Brixton Village. The recently renovated market area gave the evening a suitably wintery and festive feel in what has to be our most original and experimental gig to date! We had a fantastic evening and played tracks both old and new whilst handing out free copies of our new EP. Those who could not make this gig, do not despair, we will be handing out copies of the Parades EP at gigs to come. Above are some pics for your viewing pleasure, taken by the fantastic Paul Wade.
